Sunday Morning Coffee Haiku



Haiku - Inspired by Blogger friend Zoebyrd at 



Oh coppertop pot
Brew your magic elixir
Fill my goblet now




The coffeepot belonged to my Mother-In-law; this was how coffee was made in the olden days.

Fill water to the top line of the coffeepot, (that will make 8 to 10 cups of coffee). Spoon in 8 to 10 tablespoons of coffee.  I filled it to the top line that is indicated on the basket, place the basket onto the stem which is actually the percolator, cover the basket with the basket cover, called the coffee spreader, cover the coffee pot (my pot has a copper top) J


Place on stove bring heat to medium high to high and wait for water to boil, once the water boils the percolator starts to do its job – allow to percolate for 7 ½ minutes  -  take off heat and let it rest and settle for a minute.  
Pour in cup add sweetener of choice, and any dairy product – for me I like almond milk, or add nothing and enjoy it as it is made.

    the olden days is when i was growing up. LOL.
    used to love the sound the percolator made... even before i learned to drink coffee. xo

    1. Me too, that is I remember the olden days too I have been using the coffee pot the last couple of days....so good and it smells up kitchen each morning. :)

Marisa, I remember my mom making coffee in the percolator, and loved listening to the bubbly sounds while the aroma soon started to fill the kitchen, our guests waiting in the dining room with their dessert! Your pic brought back many sweet memories. Did you know that I only started drinking coffee at the age of 46, (four years ago!), and now I so look forward to that first cup every morning. I'm experimenting with different blends, which I do myself, and lately, it's been a Swiss caramel/almond/Brazilian roast. My second cup is a Greek coffee, about 3 hours later, and then a tea in the late afternoon. Thanks for sharing your Sunday morning coffee haiku, and Happy Thanksgiving!
