I Heart Garlic!

I must because my last post was all about pasta with garlic.

On the way home after work tonight, I was thinking about what my post should be about; what recipe should I post….briefly I thought I can do a quick shout out to the pasta with garlic. I wasn't sure what I  was going to write about.

Yes, I must love garlic a lot.  Let me tell you why.

My drive from my job is rather quick, compare to other commuters; twenty minutes the most.  The radio is on and I get to listen to my favorite radio station out of Fordham University, a public supported station that plays an array of genres.  Therefore, my mind drifts from one song to the next, although tonight I was thinking about posting on my blog.  That is until I pulled into our driveway and headed inside.  Hubby was getting dinner ready, the kids came to say hello and give me hugs, Teddy was jumping on me and wanted a goodie, the dining room table was being used for a project that Nick and James were working on.  Nick is speaking, telling me something, and Amelia wanted another hug.   I was thinking about dinner and making a salad.  Hectic?  Not really, more like controlled chaos.

Tonight’s dinner was Oven Fried Drumsticks (chicken legs) accompanied by a tomato and cucumber salad with garlic, and an oil and vinegar dressing…At this point, I can tell you about how delicious and easy the chicken legs were; but then again, I will save that for another time, because  I’d rather share with you a little surprise while I made the salad. I love it when inspiration shows's so awesome!

Yes! I

I must, check out what I came across when I was making the salad this evening!

-shaped garlic slices!

“You can never have enough garlic. With enough garlic you can eat The New York Times.” Morley Safer quotes

“Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian; wine and tarragon make it French. Sour cream makes it Russian; lemon and cinnamon make it Greek. Soy sauce makes it Chinese; garlic makes it good.”
Alice May Brock (of ‘Alice's Restaurant’ fame)

Even Teddy got excited!

Mangia, Mangia…No Talk!

  1. Heart shaped garlic now that is neat!! Oven fried chicken looks tasty... Love it.

    1. Total surprise found the clove in my garlic keeper started slicing and saw that the slices looked like hearts! Made us laugh my son took the pictures and said blog it! Too funny!

  2. Hello Marisa--I see my sweet friend, Marissa, has left a comment! Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm so glad you found me because it led me here to you. After reading this post on garlic I already knew we had the love of garlic in common. Then I saw your adorable Teddy. Next I had to go back to your 2012 posts where I loved reading every word of your tour through your sanctuary, your yellow kitchen. I loved this so much and felt I was there with you. I think you probably turn out finer meals than many people with state-of-the-art kitchens. You have a treasured, well cared for, and well used kitchen. I love it that you chose a full size refrigerator over a larger dishwasher!

I also loved reading the post about your family history and that cooking wonderful meals and preserving and canning was such a part of your culinary history. I have followed you and will go to my blog and will gladly add you to my blogroll as I don't want to miss a single one of your posts. I believe I will learn much from you, new friend!

So nice to have met you,
Dewena (I also have a yellow kitchen!)

    1. Thank you my new friend for your kind words and as I sometimes say rather randomly at times "Benvenuta!"(welcome) I hope you enjoy! :)

  3. i came over here from 'across the way' . . .
dewena said you have a delightful blog and dewena never lies.
and i'm already in love with teddy!
your site is so full of life and flavor.
now if they could just figure out a way to let us TASTE the picture of the food. and no doubt some fine day they will.
i liked the morley safer quote.
    ciao! hope that's right.
i'm not italian. i simply love the way italians love life.
